Liz+Linhong: Northern Virginia Wedding

Look here ya'll, I don't know how it's possible, but each and everyone of my clients have been mind-blowingly AMAZING in every sense of the word. Whether they're gorgeous, sweet, kind, or hysterical, everyone of my clients has fallen into one of those categories. Liz and Linhong are absolutely no exception. A true test of their personalities was when I literally STEPPED ON LIZ'S BOQUET! Serious photog faux pas. The crunch of her beautiful flowers under my clumsy foot made me want to cry, but Lin and Liz were so, so good to me, maybe too nice.

I also loved these two because they let me go crazy with portraits, which was a first for me at a wedding. I LOVE engagements and individual portraits, and I've been dying to really get into them with weddings. It's so easy for time to slip away and the portrait sesh is usually the first to get cut when trying to adhere to a wedding day schedule, so when Liz and Lin let me shoot to my little hearts desire, I was ecstatic! We started at the church where they got married, St. Matthews UMC, and finished off at the beautiful restaurant Trummer's on Main in Clifton, Virginia. And for you photo nerds, this was my first wedding shooting entirely in RAW, on manual, and editing in Adobe Lightroom 3 on my new iMac...and I don't know bout you guys, but my mind is officially BLOWN. I'm never going back to jpeg, and never editing outside of Adobe ever again. Also my iMac is pretty and I like using it.

So you guys will see that this is a very portrait-heavy post, but that's only because Liz and Linhong looked so fabulous I feel like I should show them off! Anywho, thank you Lin and Liz for letting me follow you on your day! Congrats you guys!

Priyanka+James: Kennedy Center and Georgetown Engagement

I had been looking forward to shooting this session for months!! When Priyanka emailed me a while back and said she wanted to shoot at The Kennedy Center and then Georgetown, it was like Christmas morning for a photographer. I don't know why, but I had never thought of The Kennedy Center for an engagement session, but the architecture and details are so beautiful, there's no way to pass it up. And when Pri mentioned Georgetown, my stomping ground, I was thrilled. I love shooting in Gtown because you never know what you're going to find around the corner or in an alleyway. There is stunning vintage architecture on every block.

Pri and James are one of the coolest couples I've worked with. We clicked instantly, probably because I'm the world's best photographer. I actually had no idea when we headed over to Rose Park in Georgetown that that was actually where James proposed. I wish like hell I was cool enough to take credit, but if you know me, it's definitely dumb luck, emphasis on the dumb. But Pri+James, you guys were AWESOME, thanks so much for working with me!

Savannah: Washington D.C. Pet Photographer

Meet Savannah! This little cat is too funny. Her owners are actually client's of mine whose wedding is in September at the beautiful Old Naval Hospital in D.C. I am SO excited for that wedding! The building is being renovated so it will be gorgeous, and I couldn't get along with couple anymore, seriously we are kindred spirits or something. Speaking of kindred spirits, let's get back to my new bff Savannah. She's getting a little older, not that you would ever be able to tell from how cute and VERY active she is, and her owners just wanted some good shots of her. A little about Savannah, her life revolves around a couple things. One-eating grass. It is awesome. Two-cat nip is more awesome. Three-laying on the floor after eating grass and getting sky high on cat nip is the awesome-est. Ahh...what a life.

Miles+Ella: Washington, D.C. Pet Photographer

It was a busy Sunday last weekend, with two pet portrait sessions in one day (Savannah the cat to come!). Pets are what I first started photographing and I've really missed it. For about the past 6 months I've been focused on photojournalism, as well as wedding and portraits, while pet photography has all but disappeared from my repertoire. That was until I received an email from Miles+Ella's owners, and I couldn't have been happier. Miles and Ella are getting older, and their owners wanted to get some good portraits of them just being them. These dogs could not have been any sweeter. Miles (the chocolate lab) still looks, and acts, like a puppy. Despite both of them being thirteen years old, he and Ella were running around battling for a tennis ball outside for a solid 30 minutes, and they really only quit because it started to rain. We headed inside to get some shots of the dogs in their favorite environment: laying on the floor. Tell you what, they live THE LIFE!! Their owners are madly in love with them, they get regular treats of carrots and corn chips, and belly rubs out the wazoo. Makes you wish you were a dog sometimes.
